Hey party people!
Finally! The weather is starting to break out of the polar vortex and show its sunny self…at least here in Atlanta. That has me, the entertainer, dreaming of outdoor cookouts, chilling on the back porch with friends and a cold drink in hand.
Even though we had our wedding reception in our backyard, it is far from where we want it to be.
We bought our house just before we got married, almost 3 years ago. It was built in the 60s, but we got an amazing deal & it’s in a great location. We decided we’d take everything in phases. We’ve finished our basement, renovated our master bathroom, painted the whole interior of the home (from trim to ceiling), and recently updated our kitchen. Now…we’re trying to focus on the outside.
My husband, Mike, loves sitting out by his fire pit with the guys, so we decided to add an outdoor fireplace and a roof. My issue here, as in all of our home decor plans, is how do I combine HIS desire for comfort and MY desire to entertain. He loves dark leather, and I love white tufted couches. How do we combine that to an outdoor space we both love and will be welcoming to our guests?
The best way to do that is to present him with an inspiration board so he can visualize it.

I tried to do my best at combining HIS desires with MY desire to entertain. He gets his comfy seating, and I get my fun chair (I’d probably add more to a round table). He gets his wood-like flooring, (it’s actually tile by Mohawk Flooring) and I get my moveable bar cart. He gets his soft lighting, & I get my party lighting.
What do you think? Do you think he liked it?
