Get ready for your heart to melt. Seriously, do you have some tissue nearby? Mohawk Group recently had the honor of assisting the amazing Sunshine on a Ranney Day in renovating nine Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) sleeping rooms and bathrooms in the family wing at Egleston. From the project’s meaningful beginnings to the emotional big reveal on the TODAY Show, every aspect of Sunshine on a Ranney Day’s largest project to date is sure to put a smile on your face.

Sunshine on a Ranney Day is an incredible organization with a mission to provide children with long term illness and their families with dream room makeovers to bring joy and light into their homes. In the case of CHOA, child patients and their families need the feeling of home during these stressful times.

In partnering with donors, volunteers and local organizations to renovate the CHOA sleep center including all nine rooms, the hallways, personal storage areas and two bathrooms, Sunshine on a Ranney Day has made hospital stays more comfortable and brought positive change to the lives of the children and families, one smile at a time. This specific wing is a place for family members to escape to and rest while their child is being treated in the hospital.  An estimated 2,300 people sleep in these rooms every year- How amazing would it be if these rooms looked and felt like hotel rooms where families would stay during a fun trip?

That’s where Mohawk Flooring comes in: donating Select Step LVT in Tanned Tassel colorway for all flooring in the entire project to lend performance, comfort and style! The warm soothing shade and beautiful texture enhances the serenity that these rooms can help provide:

After the combined efforts of many talented and dedicated people, the CHOA annex has been transformed to give a spa-like feel as you can see from the before-and-after images below. Photos courtesy of Nicole W Photography.

CHOA rooms have had a traditional hospital feel for many years:

A special note from the Author: Not only was I born in Atlanta, I was born with a cleft lip and a cleft palate. For many of my operations and recoveries, my family and I had numerous overnight stays at CHOA and Egleston. This renovation is such a blessing to children like me and families like mine. So, I wanted to send a special thank you to Holly and Peter Ranney, Sunshine, Mohawk, CHOA and everyone involved!
