Cheerleader Caroline is a lot like every teenager; she loves shopping and makeup, excels academically, and craves her independence. Unlike most teenagers, however, Caroline was diagnosed at birth with Arthrogryposis, which is a rare non-progressive neuromuscular disease, and Pierre Robin Sequence, which is characterized by craniofacial anomalies including a small jaw, cleft of the soft palate and a narrow airway. Caroline is confined to a wheelchair, although she doesn’t let the loss of one foot keep her down! Her sunny disposition is always on display at cheer squad and during her frequent wheelchair basketball games and ballet lessons.

Today, Caroline also receives supplemental nutrition via a gastronomy tube and relies on mechanical ventilation to breathe while she sleeps. While she relies on her family for assistance with daily activities, Caroline was ready for some more independence and privacy.

Sunshine on a Ranney Day helped make both of her wishes come true by remodeling her bathroom, to accommodate her wheelchair, and renovating her bedroom. Mohawk Flooring was honored to provide our new SmartStrand Forever Clean carpet for Caroline’s beautifully renovated bedroom. SmartStrand Forever Clean carpet is extremely soft and the toughest, easiest to clean carpet on the planet, a perfect match for Caroline’s personality. Our Global Vision carpet in Bare Essence pairs beautifully with the blue and white patterned wallpaper and hot pink accents, including the side table and closet doors.

Check out some of these amazing before and after photos; we love the sweet smile on Caroline’s face during her room makeover reveal last month!
