Hey party people!
If you’ve ever cooked a day in your life, you probably can relate to this…
You’re ready to make a grocery store run. You’ve got your list. You’ve got your coupons. You probably even have your week’s menu planned. You. Are. Ready. To. Conquer!
In and out of the store in 35 minutes flat, and you are patting yourself on the back! You’re smiling inside. You CAN do it all. You CAN get it done in record speeds. You may even have time to relax with a glass of wine tonight. Yeah…you’re THAT good.
Making dinner on a night like that feels great! You are already imagining that maybe, just maybe you can catch up on some of your DVR shows…or read a chapter in the book that’s been sitting on your nightstand for 6 months.
You go to get the milk out of the refrigerator, and it’s nowhere to be seen. How could you forget something like milk? No. Surely it must’ve rolled underneath the car seats. You check. Nope. You forgot the milk. You try and think of alternatives. Will half & half work? Maybe water? What are the kids going to put in their cereal tomorrow morning? Ugh…seriously. Do I have to trek all the way back to the store because I forgot milk?
This has happened to me more times than I care to admit. In those times, I stretch my creativity to determine if I REALLY must go back. The worst is when it happens multiple times…in one day. The multiple trips usually happen, for me, during a holiday, which make it even more fun.
Can YOU relate?
One way I’ve cut down on my store runs, due to my forgetfulness, is with some handy dandy phone apps!
I’ve compiled my top 5 grocery list apps that could help save you those extra trips to the store & allow you to enjoy that glass of wine more often.
One of the best things about them? They’re all free!
There are great things about all of these apps. I love how you can scan items with the Grocery List Ease app. The Shopping List app doesn’t have a lot of bells & whistles, but I love that I can easily eliminate items as I put them in my cart. My Shopi app is like the picture book of grocery lists. If my husband wants me to pick up his favorite blue corn tortilla chips, he can just add it to the list from his phone & it syncs to mine with FoodListic. It never fails when I have several recipes that I forget one of the ingredients. You don’t have to worry about that with Big Oven Recipes & Grocery List. Choose your menu for the week with their recipes or your own, and it will compile your grocery list for you.
These apps certainly help my problem with forgetting grocery items, but one thing I do know…I’m glad we live close to a grocery store because sometimes you can’t teach a forgetful grocery shopper new tricks.
Do you have a personal record for the number of times you’ve had to go back to a grocery store in a day?
Do you have a grocery list app that’s your favorite?
Until next time…Party On!
