Hi, it’s Kristin from Bliss at Home again! Today, I’m sharing some dorm room inspiration with you. I haven’t crossed this road yet with my kids, but I know a lot of you are preparing for your son or daughter to head off to college soon. Here’s a couple of designs I put together to make their rooms have some style and personality.

I remember my shoebox of a dorm room. It was so small, the beds actually pulled in and out of the wall halfway! Sharing that space with a roommate was a challenge. We have to prepare them with the things they need like bedding, desk lamps, and all– but it’s nice to give them a little fun and comfort too. I really think this helps with the transition to college dorm life.

Rugs are so important in a dorm room. Usually they have cold hard floors. The Mohawk Home Block Party Geometric Rug has a great masculine vibe. I paired this rug with this Window Pane Bed-in-a-Bag set. I am not usually a fan of bed-in-a-bag combos, but this one is pretty good and perfect for a college kid. For a little fun and color, I threw in the Burton Graphic Tee pillow. Lighting is so important for all the late night studying, and I love this Arch Desk Table Lamp. To make it a little more unique, I added the Metal Cage String Lights and that Epic Mat.

The jumping off point for this feminine dorm space is the Mohawk Home Fancy Trellis Hot Pink Rug. I’ve been loving the combinations of pinks and greens lately. The Pop Dot Duvet Cover and Shams pair nicely with the rug. Needlepoint pillows are trending right now and I love the colors in that Live & Laugh pillow. For the lighting, I went with a metallic for the desk area using the Gold Modern Clip Lamp and the Marquee Arrow is just for fun. I think it’s always nice to have a positive message to see everyday and that Be Awesome Today mug could be used as a pencil holder or (of course) a coffee mug.

It’s time to send them off in a little style!
